• I want to compare different empathy definitions to the Wholistic Definition model.

  • • The one you see most often is the Cognitive Empathy, Affective Empathy, Empathic Concern (compassion) Model

    • Many academics, will say there are 3 types of empathy. You see it in academics papers, articles, etc. This model is a more recent model developed by academics.

• The Wholistic Empathy is based on the work of Carl Roger. He was the precursor resereacher.

• Carl Rogers did not use the specific terms "affective empathy" or "cognitive empathy" in his writings. Instead, he discussed empathy as a holistic experience involving both understanding and sharing the feelings of another.

  • • the model is generated by academics that don't have the personal experience with empathy like Rogers did
